The five series described below represent most of my body of work over the past four years. Select a series to view either by clicking on the icon links below or on one of the navigation links to the left.
GARDENS | 2006-2007
This series uses the motif of an intimate landscape to explore the ephemeral nature of life. The beauty of shifting light, the passage of time and elusiveness of memory come into play in this series of highly textural diptychs.
ROCKS & SEA | 2004-2006
Inspired by the jagged beauty of the shoreline of Cape Ann, Massachusetts, these paintings evoke the luminous color and gritty texture in earth and sea. The vantage point is that of a seagull hovering over the landscape below.
ARCS & VISTAS | 2005-2006
Using sweeping curves and a loaded brush, this series was an offshoot of Rocks & Sea, with more emphasis on allover gesture.
WINDOW | 2003-2007
This series represents a meditative motif that I return to often. Essentially, they can be viewed as nocturnes—lyric poems that comment on our quest for the spiritual. Using essentially two or three colors, the series emphasizes an atmospheric light which emanates from somewhere within the canvas.
MISCELLANEOUS WORK | 2003-2007
Paintings that represent in-between phases in my work which don’t fall into any specific series.
